Showtime winning Young Star Classic heat
Octane Assassin - has Paws of Thunder in his sights

TALENTED Tasmanian pups Octane Assassin and Showtime will embark on a road trip to Sydney next week to prepare for the Group 1 Paws of Thunder series.

The Gary Greig-trained dogs have been burning up the tracks in Tassie with both dogs winners at their most recent starts at Devonport.

Octane Assassin scampered over the 452-metre circuit on Tuesday in a slick 25.56 in a grade four event.

But his best was at his second try on the track clocking 25.41 to win his grade five and that was only 0.02sec quicker than he clocked at his first start in a juvenile.

"He is an exciting dog but he's still learning," Greig said.

Octane Assassin started favourite at his two most recent outings in Hobart in which he was second to Mr Issues in a heat and final of the Betfair Young Star Classic.

Showtime won his heat of the Young Star Classic and ran third in the final.

On Tuesday at Devonport he scored a convincing win in a juvenile, clocking 25.92.

Showtime has impeccable box manners and that has attributed to him winning five of only six starts.

Octane Assassin also has raced interstate with a win at The Meadows in good time testament to his ability.

Greig plans to travel the dogs around Australia chasing the feature and Group races.
