Grand Destiny out of Launceston Cup 22 / 02 / 2010

Trainer Mick Kent - Grand Destiny's bloods not right

THE AAMI Launceston Cup has been further decimated with the late withdrawal of the Mick Kent-trained Grand Destiny.

Only nine horses final accepted for the $300,000 Group 3 race over 2400 metres of which four are from interstate.

Hobart Cup winner Growl remained in Tasmania instead of travelling back to Victoria, leaving De Fine Lago (Tony Vasil), Larry's Never Late (Rod Douglas) and Grand Destiny to travel by air early Tuesday morning.

"I did his bloods this morning and I wasn't happy with them so he'll stay at home and hopefully he'll be right by Friday to go around at MooneeValley in the Night Cup (2500m)," Kent said.

Vasil and Douglas confirmed their Launceston Cup horses were definitely making the trip across Bass Strait.
