LIGHTLY raced two-year-old filly Rose Of Scotland will be entered for the South Australian Magic Millions Classic after she won the $100,000 Tasmanian version at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston on Wednesday.

Rose Of Scotland (Stratum-Ares de Lago) went into the race with only three starts to her credit but it was on the back of a failure in Hobart where she finished last of nine in a 2YO maiden behind stablemate Beau Vallon.

But a subsequent trial win gave connections the confidence to back her in from $12 on fixed odds to start the second elect at $5.40 behind the odds-on favourite Strike The Tiger that went into the race unbeaten from three starts.

Strike The Tiger led but was pressured to the home turn by outsider Shinto but when Rose Of Scotland arrived on the scene to challenge at the top of the straight she gave the favourite a cold as she swept to the lead.

The Charlie Goggin-trained filly hit the line over three lengths clear of Strike The Tiger with Royal Miswaki a close-up third.

"This filly did fail at her first-up run but she then trialled and won it by 100 metres so I knew she would be very hard to beat on that effort," Goggin said.

"She has shown above average ability all along but was a bit slow to mature and she still has a lot of learning to do but she is a very talented galloper," he said.

Rose Of Scotland is raced by Prime Thoroughbreds Rose syndicate along with the Too Many reds syndicate and is managed by Prime Thoroughbreds director Joe O'Niell.

Goggin confirmed the filly would head to South Australia.

"She's off to the A Magic Millions and then she'll most likely be back and could possibly run in the two feature two-year-old races in April-May," O'Neill said.

The Tasmanian Magic Million win took Rose Of Scotland's stake earnings to $68,000.
