Goggin pair eyes feature races in SA 07 / 03 / 2010

Rose Of Scotland winning Tasmanian MM Classic

TWO of Tasmania's most promising gallopers will be aiming to make a mark on the national stage in South Australia tomorrow when they contest feature races on Adelaide Cup day at Allan Scott Park at Morphettville.

In-form three-year-old Too Many Reds and rising star two-year-old Rose Of Scotland, both prepared by Charlie Goggin, take winning form into their respective races.

Too Many Reds is unbeaten from three starts this preparation with the latest an impressive effort to take out the Tasmanian 3YO Classic over 1200 metres in Launceston on February 21.

Rose Of Scotland earned her trip to SA with a brilliant win in the $100,000 Tasmanian Magic Millions 2YO Classic two weeks ago.

The daughter of Stratum has had only four starts for two wins and a second but her most recent effort was clearly her best and she would only need to mirror that form to be very competitive on the Morphettville circuit.

Goggin said both horses will go into their races in top shape.

"Both horses travelled really well to SA and they worked well on Thursday morning at Lindsay Park," Goggin said.

"Too Many Reds has drawn poorly (outside gate 13) but if he is ridden back and gets any luck he should acquit himself well."

"Rose Of Scotland has drawn wide too (8) but she has some speed and should be able to overcome that gate," he said.

Connections of both horses have opted to retain the services of Tasmania jockeys with Brendon McCoull to take the sit on Too Many reds while Stephen Maskiell will ride Rose Of Scotland.

Rose Of Scotland will go around in race four at 1.12pm while Too Many Reds will tackle race eight at 3.52pm.
