I'm A Hussy blitzes top field at The Valley 08 / 03 / 2010

I'm A Hussy (Ben Malham) blited her rivals in the Labor Day Plate at Moonee Valley
Scott Brunton - Thrilled with I'm A Hussy's latest win

STAR Tasmanian mare  I'm a Hussy made an impressive interstate debut when she blitzed a quality field in the $100,000 Labour Day Plate over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley today (Monday).

I'm A Hussy led and when jockey Ben Melham called on her to extend turning for home she left her rivals in her wake and went on to score by about five lengths from the in-form Ariarni with Ocean Challenger third.

The win came on the back of an equally impressive win in the Listed weight-for-age Vamos Stakes in Launceston on Cup day.

I'm A Hussy is trained at Seven Mile Beach by David and Scott Brunton who opted to take her to Melbourne in search of suitable sprint races.

"In winning the Vamos she's was going to be weighted out of races at home so she'll be campaigned interstate where we'll have more races to choose from in the future," Scott Brunton said.

"All she'll be doing back home in Tassie is spelling," he said.

I'm A Hussy won on debut as a two-year-old but she fractured her pelvis and the initial prognosis suggested she'd never race again.

But her part-owners Craig and Angela Brakey nursed her back to health and after almost two years away from the track she was sent to the Brunton's at their Seven Mile Beach training complex.

The mare responded to a beach environment and her win in the Vamos Stakes was enough to convince the trainers she would be competitive interstate.

I'm A Hussey won her first two starts on heavy tracks and that form was enough to convince most punters she was the value runner so they plunged and sent her around the $3.90 favourite after $5.50 has been offered in early markets.

Brunton was unsure when I'm A Hussy would have her next start.
