Tasracing was established by a special Act of Parliament in November 2008 to assist the industry in planning and promoting Tasmanian racing to new and developing markets. Ultimately, this will assist the industry to be financially sustainable and viable protecting the future of everyone involved.

Competency units required for licence renewals 2011 / 2012
If you are currently licensed as a Stable Employee Approval Trials Rider or Track Work Rider and you intend to renew your licence for 2011-2012, you will need to complete the following units from the Certificate II Racing (Advanced Stable-hand) qualification:
- RGRCMN201A – Follow OH&S procedures and Observe Environmental Work Practices
- RGRPSH201A – Handle Horses
